Have you ever noticed how similar the Society is to a Multi-Level Marketing Business?
by SAHARA inmaybe this discussion has already taken place on this forum, or maybe some of you may scoff at this observation as just stating the obvious, but i think it may be worth while to post this for those of you who have yet to discover this paralell.
i was involved in a mlm business in the insurance industry from 1993 - 2000. this life insurance agency was started in 1977 by just a few individuals and had grown by recruiting average working class people to become part-time sales agents and sold them the american dream.
in just a few years time, this agency entered every state and grew into a sales force of roughly 200,000 people, part time and full timers, and by 1984 had become the #1 seller of life insurance in the country for approximately 15 years straight.

I spent 7 years in Amway. After I left, a relative of mine joined the Dubbers, I started researching cults. It sent chills down my spine. Amway is a cult just as the Dubbers or Mormons are.

Ladies, how do you feel about be called a "weaker vessel"?
by sacolton inonly after joining the jehovah's witnesses did i ever hear women referred to as "weaker vessels".
how does that make you feel?.

I have always figured that the "weaker vessal" thing was to compare women to a fine porcelain vase. Men, in comparison would be steel buckets.

"scholar's" dismissal is typical for him. In his mind, it relieves him of having to deal with the data.

Scholar! It is good to see you back! This thread is exactly the question that I spent weeks trying to get you to answer before you disappeared. Are you ready to answer it now? Here goes: Can you show, using the Bible ONLY, that Jerusalem fell 607 years before the birth of Jesus??

Would you still believe if there were no reward in the afterlife
by donny insome months ago i was listening to a co-worker witnessing to some others about why he believes and why they should to.
as i listened i kept hearing over and over about the "rewards" of eternal life in heaven in the kingdom of god.
later on we had a conversation that went like this.. me: can i ask you a question about your beliefs?.

My attitude is that I will serve Him because I love Him. What He chooses to do in return is entirely His business and none of my concern. It is the same way I am towards my family, friends, and neighbors. I help them because I want to, not because I expect something in return. I have always found it disturbing to hear talk about all the crowns and mansions they want when they get to Heaven.

to buy a house or not... suggestions, experience, help!
by Aussie Oz inmany years ago i bought a house because the government basically threw money at us and the mortgage was pretty much the same as the weekly rent in $ per week.. obviusly that has changed, here in aust real estate has gone through the roof with a house considered a bargain at $300,000 for a first home buyer.. so here i am at 47, thinking about buying a house so that when i retire, the wife and i will not have to pay rent or mortgage at all.
we have to raise $25k more (we have 10) for deposit and fees in the next 18 months to do this.
(offer is to buy mil house at reduced market price).

Shop around, perhaps living 10 miles in another direction will find a better bargain for you. Scaling back expectations can help as well. There is a saying in real estate - buy the worst house in the best neighborhood you can. As you improve the property, it will increase more quickly in value. Do your research. Talk to everyone you know that owns their home, especially if they bought it in the last five years. Talk to real estate agents. Remember, they work for the seller - at least that is the way it is in the states. Don't kill your self to own. If you are living on the financial edge and something happens that decreases your income, you can lose everything fast. Make SURE you can afford it.
Hope this helps.

Frankly, I thought it was disgusting to see Teddy's inquisition of Clarence. I wonder what May Jo thinks about it.
